Mandela

Nelson Mandela was imprisoned 27 years for taking a stand for basic humanity against the brutal and rigid apartheid regime. In his own defence he argued 'I am a black man in a white man's court.'

Awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. He passed away in 2013.

His life had ever lasting meaning for so many, yet so much remains unfinished. As we travelled 5000 kms overland from Johannesberg to Cape Town it was so evident the remaining disparity in South Africa between blacks and whites. The country has more walls, electric fences and razor wire than I have seen in any other country.

The images below were photographed at his memorial museum.
