Bullet train - Japan

Yesterday we took the Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Hakone, a quaint mountain side town near to Mt. Fuji. The train travels at 320 km/h. Even more impressive than riding the super smooth train, is standing at the edge of the platform as a train passes through a station.

Capsule hotel - Japan

My room in a capsule hotel in Tokyo. I upgraded to this superior room so I could stand up. Meticulously clean, complete with TV, WiFi and an onsen. Jane was down on the women's floor with reportedly similar facilities.

Imperial Palace - Tokyo

Edo Castle sits on the hill behind famous Nijubashi Bridge. Bonsai trees line the boulevard between the palace moat and the road. Yuna, Rika and Shoko walked with us through the East Garden, practicing their English.

Meiji Jingu - Shinto shrine - Tokyo

A Shinto shrine dedicated to Emporer Meiji and his consort Empress Shoken located in a 175 acre forest built with 100,000 trees from all over Japan.
