DMZ - North Korea

DMZ - The Demilitarized Zone separates communist North Korea from democratic South Korea. It is the most heavily guarded border in the world, 4 km wide running along the 38th parallel for the entire width of the Korean Peninsula. The DMZ is only 53 km north of Seoul, the capital of South Korea - surprisingly close.

Friendship Bridge spans the DMZ between South Korea and North Korea, however it is rarely used.

The Third Infiltration Tunnel, constructed by North Korea is 1.6 km long and 73 meters below the surface. It is so named as it's the third tunnel to be discovered below the border since the Korean War ended in 1953. We walked down into the tunnel to experience this part of history.
