Inle Lake - Myanmar

Inle Lake is approximately 50 kms long where entire communities grow crops on floating sections of grasses and reeds, fish its waters, produce handicrafts in traditional ways and live in stilt homes above the waters.

We were fortunate to be invited to a very local wedding where rice and vegetables were cooked in vast pots on open wood fires.

Crafts include rolling then spinning lotus stem fibre into threads that are dyed and woven into beautiful intricate patterns.

We landed the long tail boat at Sutaung Phay to stroll amoungst the numerous stupas and pagodas.
