Most women and some boys throughout Myanmar wear thanatkha, ground tree powder, in various facial patterns.

Aung San Suu Kyi set to make history yet again with a landslide election victory.

Lawyers operate out of the back of small trucks across the street from the Customs House.

Street vendors sell foods of all descriptions and lunch is eaten on plastic stools on the sidewalks.

Colonial style buildings retain a sense of the early 1900s, including the classic Strand Hotel part of the same group as the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and the Peninsula Hotel in Hong Kong.
